What is Rule34dle?
Rule34dle is a higher or lower guessing game built on one question: which of these two characters has more posts on Rule 34? Every round pairs two characters from anime, games, comics and internet culture. One side shows its post count. The other hides it behind a question mark, and you click the card you think is bigger.
The counts come from the public tag statistics of the Rule 34 image board, covering 1,897 characters and franchise tags. A correct pick grows your streak. A wrong one ends the run and reveals both numbers, which is usually the moment you learn something surprising. Nostalgia, meme power and current hype warp the figures in ways that defy intuition, so even fandom veterans get humbled fast.
The game runs entirely in your browser. There is no account and nothing to pay. Your streaks, stats and achievements stay in local storage on your own device.
How to play
1. Look at both cards
The left card shows a character with its real post count. The right card shows another character with the count hidden.
2. Click the bigger one
Pick the card you think has more posts. Ties go in your favor, so a close call still counts as a win.
3. Chain your streak
Answer right and the winning card carries over into the next matchup. Keep going until a wrong pick ends the run.
Game modes
Classic mode
Endless two-card matchups where each winner chains into the next round. A single hot streak can run for dozens of picks, and your best streak is saved between visits.
Hard mode
Three characters with every count hidden, all drawn from a similar popularity range. You get one guess at the biggest of the three, and balanced matchups remove the obvious answers.
Daily challenge
Ten matchups per day generated from the UTC date, so every player worldwide faces the same rounds. Finish all ten, then copy your score as emoji squares and compare with friends.
Filters and achievements
Two filters reshape the pool. The franchise toggle controls whether broad tags like Minecraft or Pokémon appear alongside individual characters. The AI filter switches every count to a version that excludes AI-generated posts, for players who prefer human-drawn statistics.
Twelve achievements track your progress, from your first correct pick to a 25-game unstoppable streak. Unlock notifications pop up as you play, and the full list sits behind the trophy button in the header.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rule34dle free to play?
Yes. Every mode is free, and there is no sign up. Open the page and you are already playing.
Where does the data come from?
Post counts are read from the public tag listings on the Rule 34 image board and refreshed periodically. Numbers drift over time as new posts appear, so the database is a snapshot rather than a live feed.
What does the Remove AI results toggle do?
It swaps each post count for a version that excludes AI-generated uploads. Both the comparison and the displayed numbers use the filtered count.
When does the daily challenge reset?
At midnight UTC. A countdown under your finished score shows exactly how long until the next set of ten rounds.
Do I need an account to save my progress?
No. Streaks, stats, achievements and daily saves all live in your browser's local storage. Clearing site data resets them.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. The layout rearranges itself on small screens so both cards stay side by side, and cards support tap and swipe gestures.
